1. If the car muffler is broken, the sound of the engine will increase;

2. Because the main working principle of the muffler of a car is to reduce the noise generated when the engine is working. The principle is that the exhaust pipe of the car is composed of two pipes with different lengths. The length difference of the pipe is equal to half of the wavelength of the sound waves emitted by the car, so that the two columns of sound waves interfere with each other when superimposed and cancel each other out to reduce the sound intensity;

3. Reduce the incoming sound, so as to achieve the effect of noise reduction. Then if the muffler of the car is broken, the sound waves emitted by the car will not be reduced, and correspondingly there will be no mutual cancellation and weakening, then there will be no way to shield the engine sound, resulting in an increase in the engine sound.
